We began our journey in 2017 when Frank Chick Jr. was driving to one of his many hay deliveries to the Fair Hill Training Center. He saw a ‘for sale’ sign on a 30ish acre property on the south side of Rt 273 at the Little Egypt Road intersection. This was a pivotal moment for him. His dream of expanding his hay and feed business was playing through his mind as he looked across the acres of corn. He envisioned a beautiful building on top of the hill with a large parking lot filled with horse trailers and people. After a few phone calls and meetings with contractors a rough sketch was developed based on Frankie’s dream. A trip to the Cecil County administration building started a three year process of planning, approvals and inspections.
Six months later, Frankie and his wife Kimberly were sitting in a local lawyer’s office signing all the documents necessary to make the Telegraph Road property theirs. As soon as the virtual ink was dry, Frankie was on the phone making calls to begin pushing his project forward to bring a tack shop and hay depot to the Fair Hill area of Elkton, Maryland. In the early spring of 2018 the entrance way to allow for heavy equipment was laid and the site was marked with stakes to begin the long process of construction. Since then daily progress was made at the site and we are proud to say that on the eve of the final Fair Hill International in October of 2019, the last International before the new 2020 5*, we finalized the construction portion of this project and got the golden ticket of occupancy in December of 2019.
It is with great honor and respect to the horse community that we are able to bring our passion for horses through a business that we are truly proud of. Our hearts are swelling with anticipation of meeting all of the local horse owners, lovers, riders and enthusiasts of the area. We have poured our lives into every inch of space on the property and hope that our customers feel our joy and love for the sport, the horses and the people.
